Mac Tutton returns for 2026, aims to become ‘one of the league’s top defencemen’
The Bing Lee Sydney Bears have confirmed the return of 19-year-old defenceman Mac Tutton for the 2026 Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) season.
The club is excited to see Tutton return after making 19 appearances for the Bears in his sophomore season of 2024. Tutton previously made his AIHL debut with the Central Coast Rhinos in 2023, suiting up for six games.
“I missed playing during the 2025 season and can't wait to return to the ice with the Bears,” Tutton revealed. “I’m highly motivated to represent the club again, play in the new home rink, and continue pursuing my passion and love for the game.”
Tutton has already represented Australia twice at the U18 level at International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) tournaments, including serving as an alternate captain in 2023.
“As a young, emerging Defenceman, Mac is an important part of our D group now and into the future,” Sydney Bears’ Director of Hockey Operations, Nathan Graham, declared.
At just 19-years-old, the Sydney Bears’ front office is excited for Tutton’s potential for growth.
“We anticipate him taking another step this year,” Graham continued, “and with two AIHL seasons under his belt already, he has built a great base and familiarity with the league that will allow him to further develop his game and elevate his impact at this level. We’re thrilled to have him back.”
Tutton’s ambitions for the season match the club’s belief in his potential. “My ambitions for the season are to continue developing my game with the goal of becoming one of the league’s top defencemen,” Tutton asserted.
“I aim to be a supportive, reliable teammate, continue developing my leadership skills, contribute more offensively, and actively seek sponsorship opportunities to support both myself and the club.”
